Frequently Asked Questions

Is Locals Club free for locals?

Yes. It's free to sign up, free to redeem offers, and there's no premium tier. Merchants pay a small commission when you actually redeem — that's the entire business model.

What does "verified local" mean?

When you sign up we do a one-time check that your stated home address is within 20 miles of your current phone location. That's it — no ongoing tracking, no location history, no background collection.

Verification is what lets merchants offer real discounts on the platform. They know they're reaching people who actually live in the community, not deal-hunters passing through.

Where are you launching first?

Tampa. We're signing up founding member businesses through 2026 and will open the app to the consumer waitlist as merchant density hits the bar we need for the feed to feel full on day one.

What kinds of businesses are on it?

Restaurants, bars, coffee shops, retail, salons and spas, gyms and studios, local services. The v1 model works with any business running Square as their POS. Other POS integrations are on the roadmap.

How is this different from Groupon?

Groupon prints a coupon and hopes a merchant honors it. Locals Club connects directly to a merchant's Square POS, so every redemption is tied to a real ticket in their register. No paper, no manual math, no arguments at checkout.

Plus: no bidding on discounts, no pressure to run 50%-off blowouts. Merchants set the offers that make sense for their margins.

Do you sell my data?

No. We don't sell data to anyone. We don't run ad networks. Merchants see aggregate redemption stats (how many people redeemed, what time, what neighborhood) — never personally identifying info about you.

How do you know a redemption is real?

Every QR code is single-use, time-limited, and cryptographically signed. When the merchant scans it, our system matches the redemption to a real transaction on their Square POS in real time. No matching ticket, no valid redemption.

What phones do you support?

iOS first — TestFlight is open to founding members now, App Store shortly after. Android is on the roadmap for early 2026.

How do I get on the waitlist?

Head to the signup section on the home pageand drop your email + zip. If you're a business owner, toggle to the merchant signup and we'll route you through the merchant onboarding queue instead.
